Using a lens hood is often very necessary.

What is the lens hood?

A lens hood is a camera accessory attached to a lens-head that is attached like a hat or helmet.

Why does Lens hood use?

We usually use a hat or helmet for 3 reasons-

  1. Protect from intense sunlight;
  2. To protect the head;
  3. Get an attractive look.

The same can be said of lens hoods. Now we don't know about the need to use lens hood -

Lens hood improves image quality by blocking strong sunlight

This is the main reason for using the lens hood. A camera lens contains different types of convex or concave lens elements. There are about 10 types of lens elements in starter level lenses and about 20 types of lens elements in high-grade lenses.

When intense sunlight or any other light enters the lens during photography, it is reflected in the lens elements, due to which the image quality deteriorates. The picture shows flaring or ghosting or different spots.

When the lens hood is attached, it acts as a visor, preventing sunlight from entering angularly. The lens hood can resist unnecessary light for photography.

Benefits of Photo taken with the lens hood attached.

The lens hood only resists unwanted light coming from the side, not the light coming from the front. Recently, a special coating has been applied to the lens which reduces the reflection of unnecessary light on the lens.

The lens hood protects the lens from injury and dust

A big reason to use a lens hood is that it protects the lens. It is very common to hit something directly when using the camera. If the lens hood is fitted at such a time, the lens is protected if it does not hurt too much.

If you notice this hood, you can see many scratch marks on it. If there was no hood, there would be such scratches directly on the lens.

When shooting without using the lens hood, the hand often touches the front of the lens unintentionally or unintentionally and fingerprints fall off. Even when taking pictures of children or pets, their handprints on the lens face or in many cases they can bite or lick. If you use a lens hood, you will not have to face these problems.

The lens hood makes the camera interesting to look

When it comes to fashion sense, we often use a lot of things to present ourselves in a beautiful way. Naturally, using the lens hood in the camera gives a cool look. Many people make the lens hood look more beautiful by putting different types of stickers on the lens hood or other types of decoration.

The picture with the lens hood shows a complete difference if you investigate. It has changed the look of the lens a lot. Putting the hood upside down in the picture on the right has made a difference in its look.

  1. The main purpose of a hood is to block or reduce the amount of lens flare and glare in your photos by acting like a visor for your lens. Flare and glare are types of scattered light that hit your lens from an angle (outside the frame) and makes it hard to see, like when you step out in bright light. This is more likely to happen if you’re using a low-quality filter or an old one that doesn’t have advanced anti-glare coatings.
