Travel to Meherpur

Meherpur District is located in the southwestern part of Bangladesh. While it is not as well-known as some other districts in the country, it does have a few tourist attractions worth visiting. Here are some of the notable places to visit in Meherpur District:


Mujibnagar Memorial Complex

Located in the village of Mujibnagar, this complex commemorates the historic event when the provisional government of Bangladesh took oath here during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971. It includes the historic mango grove where the oath ceremony took place, a museum, and various monuments.


Amjhupi Meherpur

Amjhupi is a small village in Meherpur District known for its archaeological site. Excavations have revealed the remains of an ancient Buddhist monastery dating back to the 7th-8th century. The site includes the ruins of a temple, a monastic cell, and a large number of clay statues.


Tomb of Shah Jahan Meherpur

The tomb of Shah Jahan is a historical tomb located in Gangni Upazila of Meherpur District. It is believed to be the burial place of Mirza Shahabuddin Muhammad Shah Jahan, the eldest son of Mughal Emperor Jahangir. The tomb is an architectural masterpiece and is known for its intricate carvings and design.


Shahid Hadis Park Meherpur 

Shahid Hadis Park is located in the heart of Meherpur town, Shahid Hadis Park is a popular recreational spot for locals and tourists alike. It features beautifully landscaped gardens, a small lake, walking paths, and various rides for children. The park is named after Shahid Abdul Hamid, a valiant freedom fighter who sacrificed his life during the Liberation War.


Bangabandhu Jamuna Eco Park

Bangabandhu Jamuna Eco Park is situated in Gangni Upazila, this eco-park is named after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father of Bangladesh. The park is spread over a vast area and offers a serene environment with lush greenery, a lake, picnic spots, and walking trails. It's an ideal place for nature lovers and those seeking tranquility.


These are some of the notable tourist places in Meherpur District. While the district may not have a large number of attractions, it offers historical and cultural sites that provide insights into Bangladesh's past and natural beauty.
