Photo collection tips - how to organize your photo collection with Plex
There are two things that you can do to make your photos better. The first is to understand how a camera works and learn how to use it properly. The second is to find out what makes a good photo, and then pick the best one from a group of bad ones.
The best way to improve your photography is to take more photos. That's why I have so many cameras: they're cheap, they're easy to carry around, and they'll give you lots of practice if you use them regularly. But if you only ever take five pictures with each camera, there's no chance that any of them will be good enough for anything but Facebook or Instagram (or whatever social network has replaced Facebook), so these tips are designed for people who want better photos than just snapshots of their surroundings.
As a photographer, you’re probably looking to build a portfolio that will get your foot in the door. But how do you do that?
First, you need to make sure you have a good photo collection. Here are some tips on how to build your photo collection:
Start with your best photos. Your first priority is to collect images that represent the best of who you are as an artist and professional photographer. If they are taken by you and reflect both your skills as well as your personality, they will be more likely to stand out in any potential employer’s search.
Choose high-quality images. It’s important not to sacrifice image quality when trying to build your portfolio. The best photos will have a lot of detail in them and should look professional, even if they were taken with consumer-level equipment or phones.
Opt for natural light whenever possible; it makes a huge difference in terms of how much detail can be captured from an image without having artificial lighting sources such as flash or studio lights present in the shot itself
You've got a lot of photos, but you can't bear to look at them all at once. So instead of scrolling through them one by one, do a little photo-collection challenge. Pick a day or weekend, then go through your pictures and categorize them by theme (architecture, nature, food, etc.) or place (a vacation home in Hawaii, a hike in the mountains). Once you've done it once, you'll be able to do it again much faster!
Keep the photos you take on your phone in order. A good way to do this is to use a folder. If you don't want the folder on your phone, make sure it's hidden.
If you're using a continuous shooting mode like burst mode or time-lapse, only take pictures when there's something worth taking a picture of. You don't want to be wasting valuable memory space with unnecessary photos.
If you have an expensive phone or camera, try not to keep it in your pocket or purse for too long. A lot of times, phones and cameras can get dropped or bumped, which could cause them to malfunction and lose data or settings.
