One of the wonders of Goa is Dudhsagar Falls

When looking for a really special place to visit in Goa, you can’t miss the opportunity to visit Dudhasagar Falls. They are located in the sanctuary of Lord Mahavira and Mollem National Park.

Sanctuary of Lord Mahavira

The area is full of rich flora and fauna, which will make it a dream come true for those who enjoy nature. There are a variety of animals ranging from Bengal tigers to wild dogs that roam freely through the park.

Interestingly, these are the fifth-longest waterfalls in the entire country. The waterfall is an impressive height of 320 meters (1020 feet). Their convenient location, great height, and beautiful natural environment make Dudhsagar Falls an unforgettable destination.

Best time to visit Dudsagar waterfall

If you want to include Goa Dudhsagar Falls in your trip to this region, this is the best rainy season to visit. This period is from June to August.

We recommend this time of year because it is the best view of the waterfall when you get it. In addition, you will feel the real power of nature as a lot of water goes down ours and creates a roar that you will feel in your bones.

In addition, there will be more water in the river, which will make for much more beautiful scenery. However, if you want to make sure that you are able to walk the irregular path toward Dudhsagar Falls more comfortably, you can consider other months.

To avoid a bad slip, it may be safer for you to explore this beautiful place between November and January. There is still plenty of water for it is an impressive sight, but the trail will be less slippery and therefore safer.

How to reach Dudhsagar Falls

How to reach the Milky Way by car
If you drive there in Panjim, you will be able to reach Kulem in about two hours. There is a parking facility here and you have to pay a fixed price for the whole day. The rest of the way you have to walk no private car is allowed inside the national park.

By train
You have different options regarding the train journey and subsequent trekking route.

Fort Stone:
To travel to Goa Falls first, you need to take a train to Lanza Junction. There, you can get on the second train to Castle Rock or you can catch a bus or taxi. Once you reach Castle Rock Station you can start your trek.

It will take you four to six hours to reach Dudhsagar Falls. It's a great option to enjoy the beautiful view of the valley.

Kulem:
Once you reach Lonza Junction, you can also choose to head to Kulem. This trek takes about three hours. As you walk along the railway it is not as scenic as before. However, you have to go past the Dudhsagar Devi Temple. This is after you leave the railroad in favor of Zip Road. After passing the temple you have to cross the river for Dudhsagar waterfall and go through the forest.

Admission:
This option is only available when it is not the rainy season. Suitable for people who like to stay outdoors. You can take a taxi from Castle Rock to the village of Kuveshi. From there, you can go through the forest and cross the Mandovi River. This road will take you directly to Dudhsagar Falls.

Rental Transport: Once you reach Kulem you can rent a jeep. It needs to be properly registered with the Goa Forest Department. This is because, as we have said before, no private vehicles are allowed to enter Mollem National Park.

If it is a family visit, it is better to take this option as tracking routes can be very tiring for small children or adults. Remember that you will still have a short, 1 km trek from where the transport takes you down to the waterfall.

An important consideration of the Dudsagar waterfall

  1. Earlier, people used to get off at Dudhsagar station and travel from there to Dudhsagar waterfall. It is now completely forbidden.
  2. Keep in mind that jeep riding can be very irregular. Therefore, you are going with the kids but you should take special care because they can get any bad kids.
  3. Be prepared to spend most of your day on this exciting journey. The time you come and go from Dudhsagar Falls varies, as it depends on how many people are visiting.
  4. Remember that you need to buy a ticket. You can now do this online to avoid long waiting lines.
  5. You can only stay in the actual waterfall area for about an hour and a half, so make the most of it! Don't forget your swimsuit or you'll probably regret it.
  6. Another thing to consider is that although many people think water is perfectly safe, there are some rules. Most importantly it is mandatory to use a life jacket while bathing as it is made up of a natural pool milky waterfall.
  7. In addition, you should keep in mind that there are no food or water vendors once you are inside the park. The water of this waterfall in Goa is not drinkable. Therefore, you need to bring your own water and food. By bringing your food you will also maximize the time spent in the waterfalls.
  8. Beware of monkeys! At the entrance to the waterfall, you will see some naughty monkeys that can snatch some of your belongings.

A trip to Dudhsagar Falls will provide you with a unique experience. If you like trekking, you can take one of the longer routes, and enjoy all the beautiful landscapes that Goa has to offer. If not here's a new product just for you!

Either way, you’ll find yourself refreshed in the beautiful pool built by Dudhsagar Falls. Once you are in Goa you cannot go to this destination. Start planning your trip and enjoy the adventure!
