Bangladeshi Dates Plum

Saudi Palm on Bangladesh soil

For a long time, the palm has been regarded as a staple food to the public in various parts of the world, mainly in the Middle East and South Asia. However, no exact information is available about the cultivation of date palm or the date of the date palm tree. It is thought to have been cultivated for the first time in the countries along the Persian Gulf. Ancient Egyptians prepared alcoholic beverages from their fruit and drank it at harvest. Archaeological evidence dating back 6 years before BC, shows that in eastern Arabia it was also cultivated.

During the stone age, archaeological excavations of palm cultivation are also recorded in the Margareth area of West Pakistan. Harappa, considered a civilization in South Asia, refers to the period from 25 BC to 5 BC.

Saudi Arabia's date palms and palm trees are now planted in Bangladesh. In the meantime, interested people have built a Saudi palm garden. Saudi palm is produced from it. The findings suggest that it is possible to cultivate a good variety of Saudi palm in the weather of Bangladesh - a few years ago proved that some successful farmers in the country.

Many enthusiasts started cultivating Saudi palm trees and began to build new palm gardens. Those concerned said that if you cultivate this date palm, you will need Saudi palm trees. The saplings are grown on the soil of the country by bringing the saplings from Saudi. From there the production is grazing. Such an example is set by a farmer in the Bhawal area of Gazipur. He is the son of freedom fighter Zillur Rahman Nazrul Islam Badal. He has established a nursery called 'Saudi Date Palm Trees in Bangladesh' for fodder production.

In addition, he is training the cultivators of Saudi palm trees. This nursery was developed not only for the sale of seedlings but also for making people know about the rules of palm gardening. Badal said that the flowers are usually harvested in February-March in Saudi palm trees and ripening in July-August.

Nazrul Islam Badal passed BSc Honors from Mathematics Department at Jagannath University. He then opened a mobile goods store on Joydebpur Road, next to the mosque market in Chandana Chowrasta in Gazipur. Although the business is still active, he is more interested in palm gardens.

Badal said he started the garden by collecting 5 saplings of trees and cultivating the first Katha land in 20 years. Named Saudi Saudi Palm Trees in Bangladesh. Of these, three are collected from Saudi Arabia, three from Dubai, two from India and two from Kuwait. It took Tk 7 lakh and twenty thousand to buy 5 saplings. After coming to work, some would even call him crazy. He also said, “At present, there are six thousand saplings of small, medium-sized trees along with two large trees on two and a half acres of land. Two thousand saplings have been collected in different ways.

The remaining four thousand trees have been brought from abroad by the quality of date palm and planted in their nursery by planting polybags in their nursery. These include the saplings of Azwa, Anwara, Sukkari, Ruthan, Barhi and Miriam. Badal said, "Both the taste and the quality of the dates produced are standard." He said that palm trees are being cultivated in different districts of the country with his hands. The plants that are planted are also good for growth. Caring properly will result in good results.

According to him, the weather in Bangladesh is suitable for palm cultivation, which proves native palm trees. And the good yields that come from caring for the Saudi varieties a bit differently - have already been found in the evidence. Badal said his palm garden now has a variety of different saplings in his paintings. This month, a total of five trees have been sold for date palm. More trees of this size are left for sale.

In addition, in the last two months, three-year-old seedlings have sold Tk 5,000 to eight lakh rupees. He is currently selling one-year-old saplings for two thousand rupees. So that sales are high and spread all over the country. In all, he has sold more than 1 lakh saplings since the start of the garden. He said the prices of the saplings have dropped relatively low this month. Deputy Director of Agriculture Extension Department Gazipur.

Masud Reza said the issue of Saudi palm gardens is a possibility for Bangladesh. In this case, the seedlings have to be selected from the matriarch through the branch pen method. It has a high potential for yield.
