America's Ana M. Zarvis goes to credit for popularizing and celebrating the worldwide celebration of Mother's Day. Anna was born in West Virginia, USA. His mother Anna Reis Jarvis has been a Sunday school teacher in a church for two decades. Its just a matter of one day. His mother was speaking about a lesson on Mother in the Bible during the Sunday school session. At that time Jarvis was 12 years old. During his lesson, his mother expressed his desire. He heard his mother say, one day will come when many devote a day to celebrate mother and motherhood. By that time only men had dedicated days which were celebrated. There was no day for women.
After the death of my mother
Two years after Ana's mother died, Ana and her friends launched a campaign. They got people's support for Mother's Day national holiday. They had seen that children usually forget their mother's contribution. She wanted that the children respect her when her mother is alive and appreciate her contribution. They hoped that when this day is celebrated as Mother's Day, the relationship between the mother and the whole family will be strengthened. On May 8, 1914, the Parliament of the United States declared Mother's Day on the second Sunday of May. The then President of America, Woodrow Wilson, declared this day a national holiday.
Ana was against money laundering
Ana was against the marketing of Mother's Day. On Mother's Day, giving expensive gifts to a mother like a fool, and other expenses she considered wrong. He believed that the mother should be given flowers on this occasion. Later Anna was campaigning against profits and earning money for Mother's Day. In his last days, he campaigned for the removal of Mother's Day from the calendar.
History of Mother's Day
In ancient Greece and Rome, the day was dedicated to mother and motherhood. They considered the ladies as mothers and held festivals in their honor. But the roots of modern Mother's Day are found in 'Mothering Sunday'. It was celebrated by people of Christianity in many countries of England and Europe. The devotees gathered for prayer in the main church on the fourth Sunday of the Lent season. The main church was known as the Mother Church. Over time, it was celebrated to honor the mother. The children used to present flowers and other things as a symbol of love and respect to their mother.
Know about Mother's Day
Mother's Day is a holiday celebrated on the second Sunday in May. It honors mothers, who are often called "mammas," "mummies," or "Mum."
Mothers are important in the lives of their children since they give birth to them and nurture them through their early years. They also provide emotional support, discipline, and guidance as children grow up.
Mothers can be found in all walks of life, from stay-at-home moms to working mothers. They may work full-time outside the home or they may be homemakers who focus primarily on raising their families.
In some cultures, mothers are honored with special clothing on Mother's Day that symbolizes their status as caretakers and nurturers of others. In other cultures, however, Mother's Day may not be celebrated as widely as it is in North America and other parts of the world where Christianity is practiced.
