If you want to find the history of the discovery of ice cream, you have to go back to the second century BC. However, there is no specific date or name for the discovery of ice cream. Because it was not discovered at once.

The caliphs were the first to add sugar to ice cream. The commercialization of ice cream started through the Arab merchants here. This ice cream is also widely distributed in China. They started using fruit juice extensively.

Marco Polo, a well-known tourist, and merchant arrived in China after traveling to various countries. Marco Polo's eyes watered after drinking this nectar. Learned the recipe. Then when he came back to Italy, Digvijayi brought this recipe with him. Antonio Latini (1842-1892), the Spanish viceroy of Naples, was the first to write a recipe. The sherbet he made with milk is considered to be the first official ice cream in history. The combination of ice cream with milk is much later. Italians were the first to consider using milk to make ice cream.

Historians say that this recipe became known as ice cream in the 16th century. England probably invented ice cream at that time or earlier. Then, in the 17th century, a dish called Cream Ice was seen daily at King Charles I's table. After the Italian Catherine de Medici married king Henry II, a frozen dessert of almost the same type was introduced in France. The time is 1553.

Before 1660, however, ice cream was not readily available to the general public. Then the first cafe in Paris, ‘Caf প্রক Outbreak’, presented a recipe with a combination of milk, cream, butter, and eggs.


The first version of ice cream came to America in 1844. The first ice cream was advertised in New York on May 12, 1777. Then the confectioner Philip Lanzi announced that it would be available in the city almost every day.

A businessman on Chatham Street in New York calculated that President George Washington spent about two hundred dollars on ice cream in the summer of 1790.

Until the eighteenth century, ice cream was the favorite dessert of the elite. Ice cream produced around that century soon became an industry. After the development of technology, production in the ice cream industry, like in other American industries, continued to rise.

The availability of ice cream peaked in the late nineteenth century. During World War II, ice cream became a symbol of edible morale for fighters. In 1945, the first floating ice cream parlor was created for sailors in the western Pacific Ocean. At the end of the war, the rations of dairy products were withdrawn and the Americans celebrated the victory with ice cream.

From 1940 to 1970, ice cream production in the United States continued at about the same rate. Ice cream started being sold in various supermarkets and ice cream parlors. Gradually the demand for sweet desserts continues to grow. Different flavors and looks are added.

Currently ice cream is a portion of every readily available food. Different types of ice cream of different tastes are reigning worldwide.
