Know before Travelling England

What do I need to know before travelling to England?

Know before Travelling England

Know the following notes before traveling to England:

They do not accept euros or dollars. Everything is in pounds (pounds). So don't forget to change your euros to pounds at the airport or at an exchange office. Another option is to use the VISA credit cards of your country (do not forget to notify your bank in advance that you will use it in the UK for such days).

Accommodation: I recommend you book a room through Airbnb, the sooner the better, because hotels are very expensive. The UK is famous because its accommodations are not cheap.

Getting around with Uber is up to half as cheap as a taxi. Sure, uber is still expensive anyway. The best way to get around is to use the buses (which religiously arrive at their stops on time) or the train network. If you go to London itself, you will have to use the trains or tubes (that's what they call the subway, underground).

Honestly, I still get lost in the tubes, it seems like a maze to me. If you are going to use the tubes or the trains frequently (it is not my case) buy an Oyster card, it will be cheaper. Returning to the buses, if you go back and forth, and buy a return ticket, you will save a lot.

London is a city with a lot of people. A lot! And of all places. Too many people! You will find out when you go to the tubes. You will see many Indians and Chinese, but not so many Latinos.

English food is not good, so be prepared to eat Indian, Chinese, or some other exotic food. And to spend also because cheap food is not. Just one of the advantages of booking an Airbnb is that you can use the kitchen at home and make your own food (my case). You will realize that the English do not usually eat elaborate meals, they are quite simple, so if you know how to cook you will eat well. Unless you want to spend like I said above.

Take a plug adapter. UK outlets are different from other countries. Trust me, having an adapter will save your life.

You will use your google maps a lot so carry a power bank on hand. Believe me, your battery will disappear very quickly.

If you come in summer, the sun rises at 5am and sets at 10pm.

If you don't know English, learn short phrases to buy, ask for help, where is such a place or until what time is such an establishment open.

Supermarkets in L-S are open from 9 am to 10 pm and on Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm.

The British accent is special. For example, agua (water) is pronounced like "wata" and not like "water" in the USA.

London has 6 airports, so make sure you arrive at the correct one. And within each airport, there are several terminals. Do not miss it.

If you are from Latin America, they may ask for a visa. Do not forget to process it, remember that the UK is not Schengen and is already outside the European Union.

London museums are free. Enjoy them.

Do not forget to look to the left whenever you want to cross the street.

If you are a Harry Potter fan, don't miss the opportunity to visit the Harry Potter Shop, on platform 9 3/4 of King's Cross Station in London. Highly recommended and fun!

If you liked the Paddington Bear movie, don't forget to visit the shop at Paddington Station.

If you go in winter, as I have been told, be prepared for the rain and the cold.

The steering wheel in English cars is located on the right side of the vehicle.

Greetings and have a good trip!

Make an effort and visit Windsor Castle, where the queen lives. It has the shape of a medieval fortress but the truth is that many years ago it ceased to be so because it now qualifies as a palace. It is the only active royal palace in the world. Entry costs 22.3 pounds. The interesting thing is that you do not need a guide staff because they give you a device and headphones that describe each room you go to and in the language you like. Recommendable.
